Ben Lieberman, a specialist in energy and environmental issues, is a Senior Policy Analyst at The Heritage Foundation's Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies.

Lieberman, trained as a lawyer and accountant, is known in public policy circles as a strong advocate of free-market solutions to the challenge of rising energy prices. He opposes unnecessary government regulation and mandates for energy producers while supporting increased access to domestic energy supplies. 

At Heritage, Lieberman also has developed expertise in the Clean Air Act, global warming and the effects of environmental policy on energy prices. He has testified before Congress on several occasions and appeared on news programs on NBC, CBS, FOX, CNBC and MSNBC.

His commentaries have been published in major newspapers, including the Baltimore Sun, Chicago Sun-Times, Detroit News, Washington Times, Houston Chronicle, Miami Herald, Orange County Register and San Diego Union-Tribune, as well as magazines and journals such as Forbes, BusinessWeek, National Review, the American Spectator and the Weekly Standard.

Before joining Heritage in 2005, Lieberman served as associate counsel and director of air quality policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute in Washington.

Lieberman, a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bar associations, received his law degree from George Washington University in 1993. A certified public accountant since 1989, he received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Maryland in 1988. He lives in Bethesda, Md.
